Intro to Advanced Search

Getting started with our Advanced Search functionality

Updated over a week ago

The Advanced Search is the most powerful tool on the platform. It's the place to go to build lists of companies, fundraisings, investors, People, and more! By combining different criteria you can create both broad and specific lists and then view aggregate statistics, track changes via Collections, or export from the platform via CSV.

Some of the most common uses for the Advanced Search include:

  • Lead generation: Building lists of target companies that fit your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) or Total Addressable Market (TAM)

  • Market research: Scope all companies of a certain size, location, industry, or growth stage

  • Deal comparables: Generate a snapshot of historic investments for a given industry or growth stage

  • People searching: Identify industry experts, angels investors, and High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) with experience in a certain sector

For step-by-step examples of these searches and others, check out our dedicated pages on the Advanced Search. The following videos provide an overview to this feature:

Now what?

Once you've built your first list, you have a number of options. Please check out our dedicated section on the Advanced Search tabs for more detail on the following options:

  • Research individual companies further by clicking on their name in the results list to navigate to their Company Profile Page

  • Export the results to a CSV file for off-line analysis - see our section on Downloads

  • Create a Collection to save the list to your account, then set up alerts and automatic tracking - see our section on Collections for more

  • View Statistics, Recent Activity, News or a location Map for the results using the accompanying tabs (see our dedicated section on Tabs here):

Finally, you can reverse engineer any search to view e.g. fundraisings/grants associated with the resultant companies by clicking the blue links below the search results:

Clicking '(+11 more...)' will give you the full list of options:
