Uploading Your Network into Beauhurst

Leverage your professional connections and identify warm introductions

Updated over a year ago

As well as tracking the activity of UK companies, Beauhurst is designed to help users map the connections between company shareholders, directors and C-suite.

Whether they’re a serial entrepreneur who has founded multiple companies, an angel investor with dozens of active shareholdings, or an experienced senior manager, our data helps to uncover the activity of decision-makers across all of their businesses interests.

It’s likely that you are already connected with many of these influential decision-makers (even if you aren’t aware of it yet!)

You might be in a company’s senior leadership already, or maybe your manager from a previous role has been promoted into the C-suite. These connections are a powerful way of securing introductions to companies that are otherwise difficult to reach.

LinkedIn can help to uncover these opportunities, but it rarely tells you the full story. To help you combine the scope of LinkedIn with the depth of Beauhurst data, we created the Network upload feature.

How to import your network

The first step is to hover over My Beauhurst, towards the top-left of the homepage, and then select My Network.

This will open the People you know section. The page will be empty to begin with. To add new contacts to your Beauhurst network, the Suggested Connections tab opens a dashboard for creating your network.

From here, the ‘Upload Contacts’ button will open three different import options:

  1. A CSV or text file → If you already have a list to hand. Ideal for researching event attendees

  2. A LinkedIn export → This is the most-used method of importing a network and is the best way to get started

You will need to request an export of your connections from LinkedIn before importing it into Beauhurst. A step-by-step guide to this process can be viewed here.

Once retrieved, the file can be imported directly into Beauhurst without further processing

  3. Pasting a list of contacts → The fastest method if you want to quickly check a list of connections

In order to have a profile on Beauhurst, a contact needs to be a Key Person, Shareholder, or Director at a tracked company. A junior SDR, for example, is unlikely to appear on the platform.

Because of this, the import will generate some non-matches. This is fine! Networks is designed to help you focus on connections who have the seniority to secure introductions and make important company decisions.

Whichever option you choose, Beauhurst will match each person in your list with their profile on the platform.

The upload algorithm will look for a match on an email address, name and company.

  • If all three fields match with a profile, the person will return with a High confidence

  • Two matches will return with a Medium confidence

  • And a match on a person’s name alone will return with a Low confidence

For visibility, the platform will show every potential match once the upload is completed. The final step is to review each connection before adding them to your network.

You might chose to do this person-by-person with the Add to my network button next to each contact’s name.

If you have more than a couple of dozen connections, however, the most efficient method is to use the Filter option at the top-right of the page to focus on your High and Medium confidence matches.

Once filtered, the blank checkbox at the top-left of the page will allow you to select all of these strong matches at once. A button just above this will display With __ selected connections.

By selecting this button, all of the selected people can be added to your network in one go using Add to My Network.

Since these contacts matched on at least two fields, you can be confident that they are genuine connections. Low confidence matches should be treated with more caution and reviewed one-by-one where possible.

You have now uploaded your network into Beauhurst! These connections are most useful when integrated into Advanced Search queries, helping you to identify fast-growing companies with which you are already connected.
